May 18 - International Women's Day in the Maritime Industry.
International Women's Day in the Maritime Industry is celebrated for the third year in a row. The theme for 2024 is “Security Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Security.” Women are still underrepresented among seafarers - only about 1% on ships worldwide and only 2% in the industry as a whole. Today, to this end, the International Maritime Organization invites you to share photos on social networks using the hashtag #WomenInMaritimeDay.
